b/w photography

The point of b/w photography is to play with the contrasts between light and shadow. This is the reason why with this kind of photography the textures appear more visible and easy to appreciate.
B/w photography is very common on portraits as well.

1. frontal light.
With a torch I created the illumination, and I used a toy as a subject, placing the light in a different position on every shot to see the differences.

1: light comes from the front, illuminating completely the subject and creating a shadow behind. (exposition , IS0)

2: light comes from behind the subject, illuminating around it. the subject appears darker. (exposition , ISO )

3&4: shadows are created at the opposite side where light comes from. specially on portraits this kind of lighting gives a really creepy effect.

5&6: light comes from the side in both of the pictures, so the shadows are make on the opposite side.

2. light from behind the subject

4.light from underneath
5. light from left side
6.light from right side
